THE INAGEMP PROGRAM

The National Institute on Population Medical Genetics (Inagemp) is a program that coordinates a team of associate institutions which collaborate in terms of research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that show great genetic components in its etiology. Inagemp is also in charge of human resources within this network of health institutions. Inagemp is committed to the transfer of knowledge to society through scientific publications as well as through educative activities that extends out to the affected communities. Conceptually, Population Medical Genetics is a field that studies and cares about populations with high prevalence of diseases with strong genetic components and/or congenital anomalies. This field of knowledge is also referred to as ‘medical genetics in population scope’.
