INAGEMP AND HUMAN RIGHTS: ‘REENCONTRO PROJECT’ IN FORMER LEPROSARIUMS

On April and May Inagemp’s team took part in meetings at former ‘leprosariums’ in the North and Northeast of Brazil, where people affected by leprosy used to be compulsory hospitalized up to 1980’s. Because of it many families were separated. Inagemp helps the Movement of Reintegration of People Affected by Leprosy (Morhan). Through biological tests Inagemp tries to find eventual connections in an attempt to reunite fathers and kids or siblings who were kept apart because of the leprosy isolation policy used at that time.
